Heavy vibratory plate compaction of silty sand: A field study

چکیده
Heavy vibratory plate compaction is an efficient technique for improvement of granular soils. However, its practical application limited by insufficient knowledge about the process and optimum procedure execution. In this study, tests were conducted in field with a 40.5-ton heavy compactor. The site consisted partially saturated, overconsolidated medium-dense silty sand sandy silt. Such conditions can generally be characterized as difficult compaction. objective was to study depth influence treatment layout, duration compaction, vibration frequency. In-situ measurements before, during after included static cone penetration tests, flat dilatometer, dynamic probing. in-situ showed statistically significant treatment. main conclusions highlight importance sufficient centrifugal force hammer cause disconnection between soil. Other important parameters are frequency treatment, which optimized monitoring. Full coverage ground surface required entire soil volume. It also found that corresponds side length plate, line previous studies.
